DCIS Emotional Support Group

We can create new possibilities in our lives and relationships even in times of extreme uncertainty.

We build a caring and non-judgmental environment where we can support each other to get closer to the uncomfortability of not-knowing-what-could-happen.

ZPD Coaching founder Carrie Sackett

Women diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS)* are deprived of emotionally growthful support. The uncertainties involved with breast imaging, diagnosis and treatment are stressful enough. When combined with the pressure to rush into breast surgery, we can feel panicked and overwhelmed.

This group is limited to six women who connect on a deeper level—seeing each other and hearing each other—as they work through their decisions on if and how to treat DCIS - Stage “0” Breast Cancer.

Together, the group creates new, hopeful, intimate emotions and conversations around our DCIS choices.

In addition, you will learn how to organize the people you love to support your decisions and how to improve conversations with medical professionals.

*It is estimated that 60,000 women a year are diagnosed with “Stage 0” breast cancer, a non-invasive cluster of abnormal cells residing within the milk duct. A growing number of women are deciding to watch and wait to see if the cells change over time and/or seek out alternative preventive treatments.

Who is this for?

  • Women who want to go through a process with other women in deciding if and how to treat DCIS.

  • Women who see investing in emotional wellness as an important factor in boosting physical health.

DCIS Women’s Emotional Support Group

In group you will

develop new responses to self-damaging worries like:

  • What did I do to make abnormal cells emerge in me?”

  • “Is this feeling in my breast a sign that I am getting invasive cancer?

  • “How can I plan for my future when I am running the risk of giving myself invasive cancer?”

  • “What if I am eating something that causes calcifications to become invasive?”

  • “Will missing a dose of supplements cause the abnormal cells to grow?”
